GRTforms vs Google Forms
GRTforms and Google Forms both collect answers on the web, but they are built for different jobs. Google Forms is Google's form and quiz tool. It is typically free with a Google account and often used for classroom quizzes, internal surveys, and Sheets-backed collection. GRTforms is a dedicated form product: a drag-and-drop builder, 24 shipped field types, conditional logic, multi-step pages, signatures, PDF export, and a submissions dashboard. This page states only what GRTforms ships today. Notes about Google Forms are qualitative and dated October 2026 — check Google's current help center for its latest limits.
Pick Google Forms when you already live in Google Workspace and need a simple quiz or sheet. Pick GRTforms when you want a branded hosted form, logic, signatures, or a guest AI draft.

| Topic | GRTforms | Google Forms |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | GRTforms is a hosted form builder from GrtLabs Inc. You design a form, publish a link or embed, and collect submissions in one dashboard. | Google's form and quiz tool, typically included with a personal Google account or Google Workspace. Responses commonly export to Google Sheets. Details vary by edition; see Google's docs. |
| Field types | 24 shipped field types (short text, long text, email, phone, number, dropdown, checkbox, radio, date, file upload, signature, star rating, name, time, website, consent, multi select, list, repeater, chained selects, address, page break, hidden, calculation) | Google Forms offers about a dozen question types (see Google's help). File upload requires respondents to sign in to a Google account and saves files to the owner's Drive. GRTforms does not try to match Google's exact list — Google's help center is the source. |
| Logic and multi-step | Conditional logic can show or hide fields, skip pages, and pick confirmation copy from answers. Page-break fields split a form into Next / Back steps. | Google Forms has long supported branching sections. It is generally simpler than a dedicated logic builder. Confirm current behavior in Google's documentation. |
| Signatures and files | Drawn or typed signatures with an owner audit trail (not legal advice). File uploads with type and size limits on hosted forms. | File upload requires respondents to sign in to a Google account and saves files to the owner's Drive. GRTforms stores uploads with the form; see /docs/file-uploads. |
| Templates | 196 indexable templates across contact, events, HR, feedback, sales, scheduling, admin, education, healthcare, real estate, nonprofit, and research. | Google provides a gallery of form and quiz templates inside the Google account UI. Counts and categories change; we do not reprint them. |
| AI | Guest /try generates a draft without an account. Ask AI chat-edits a form in the builder. Submissions are never sent to the model. | Google has added Gemini-assisted drafting in some Workspace surfaces. Availability depends on the Google account and region. The two AI helpers are not the same product. |
| Sharing and branding | Direct link, iframe, or JavaScript embed. Free-plan forms can show a Powered by badge. Premium can hide the badge. Theme designer (presets, brand colors, fonts from an allowlist, density) is on every plan. Premium adds logo and header images, saved themes you can reuse across forms, and custom CSS. | Themes and a Google header are typical. Fine-grained public-form CSS and a removable host badge are not the product's focus. |
| Security | Cloudflare Turnstile on sign-up, sign-in, and public forms. Per-form or account IP / CIDR blocks, pause, abuse alerts, and a Suspicious filter. | Relies on Google account sharing and Workspace admin controls. GRTforms adds per-form IP blocks and Turnstile — different model, not a claim that one is 'more secure'. |
| Automation | REST API keys, HMAC-signed webhooks, To / CC / BCC notification routing, and respondent confirmation email. Zapier is not available yet. Payment fields are not shipped. | Apps Script, Sheets, and Workspace add-ons are the usual path. GRTforms uses a REST API and signed webhooks instead of Apps Script. |
| Pricing (as listed here) | Free plan with unlimited forms. Premium is $12/mo or $9/mo billed yearly. Upgrade or reserve before January 31, 2027 and you can be on Premium monthly at $7.99/mo for life, even if you start on yearly. | Typically free with a Google account. Workspace editions and storage quotas are priced by Google and change; we do not list those prices here. |
When GRTforms is a better fit
- You want a public form with a theme, hidden fields, or per-field CSS — not a default Google theme.
- You need show/hide logic, page breaks, or a signature with an audit trail.
- You want respondents to start from a template or a guest AI draft at /try.
- You need IP blocks, Turnstile CAPTCHA, or selected Excel / CSV / PDF export from a submissions table.
When Google Forms is a better fit
- The answers should land in Google Sheets and stay in Drive / Classroom / Workspace.
- You only need a short quiz or poll and do not care about branding.
- Your organization already standardizes on Google accounts and does not want another host.
- You need Google's quiz scoring and Classroom extras — GRTforms does not grade quizzes.

GRTforms vs Microsoft Forms
Keep Microsoft Forms for internal quizzes inside 365. Use GRTforms when the form is a public page you brand, protect, and export on your own host.
GRTforms vs Typeform
Typeform is a strong pick when the respondent experience should feel like a conversation. GRTforms is a better fit when you want a classic form layout, signed webhooks, and a listed Free / Premium catalog.
GRTforms vs Jotform
Stay on Jotform if you already rely on its widgets, payments, or approval flows. Choose GRTforms for a narrower builder with published Free / Premium catalog prices and guest AI.
Frequently asked questions
Is GRTforms a Google Forms add-on?
No. GRTforms is a separate hosted product. You can still export submissions to Excel or CSV and open that file in Sheets.
Does GRTforms write responses into Google Sheets?
Google Sheets: coming soon. Use webhooks today. Each new submission can be sent as JSON to a URL you control, so your own endpoint can add it to a sheet. You can also export Excel or CSV from the submissions table and open it in Sheets.
Can I keep using Google Forms for quizzes?
Yes. If you need Classroom quizzes or Google's scoring, stay on Google Forms. Use GRTforms for public intake, registrations, and branded collection.
How many field types does GRTforms ship?
24: short text, long text, email, phone, number, dropdown, checkbox, radio, date, file upload, signature, star rating, name, time, website, consent, multi select, list, repeater, chained selects, address, page break, hidden, calculation.
