Drag and drop fields in the builder
Place a field exactly where you want it, then reorder smoothly — including across page breaks — without breaking logic or Preview.
Drop from Add Fields
Drag any field type from the left palette onto the form. A cyan insertion line shows the landing spot: top, between two fields, bottom, or after a page break (the next step). Drop onto the left or right of a half-width field that sits alone in its row to pair them as half | half — the dropped field is set to half width, and the indicator is a vertical bar on that edge. A row that is already half | half does not take a third column; drop above or below it as usual. Hidden fields stay visible in the builder and are valid targets. Dropping inserts the field there and selects it. Clicking a palette item still appends it at the end.
Reorder, keyboard, and phones
- Drag the grip handle to reorder. Other fields shift smoothly, and long forms auto-scroll at the edges.
- Keyboard: focus the handle, Space to pick up, arrows to move, Space to drop, Escape to cancel.
- Tablets: long-press to drag. On small phones, tap to add, then use move up / move down.
- Moving a field onto the side of a lone half-width neighbor pairs them the same way, with mouse or touch. Moving one field out of a half | half row leaves the other at half width so you can drop another field beside it.
- Half- and third-width columns and drag-resize on the right edge are unchanged. On phones, half-width fields stack to full width.
Undo, Preview, and logic
A drop, reorder, click-to-add, or move up/down can be undone with the same Undo control as Ask AI. Preview still shows the current draft order and widths. Field ids are not rewritten on reorder, so logic rules keep working. Save writes the new order and widths to the form schema, so public forms, embeds, and Preview match the builder. On narrow screens, half-width fields stack to full width.
